Our Limits to Growth (LtG) analyser projects how Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) per capita, a proxy for industrial output, could evolve for approximately 170 countries out to 2100 under four scenarios from the Limits to Growth World3 model (BAU, BAU2, CT, and SW), letting you compare any country's trajectory against others and see which nations' current economies resemble its projected future. It works by taking each country's real 2020 GFCF per capita based on World Bank data and scaling it forward using the relative shape of each World3 scenario, digitized from the published model outputs in a publised thesis from Branderhorst (2020). GFCF was chosen to better align with industrial output from the LtG model. Each of the four LtG scenarios represent structural "what if" situations, not predictions - BAU (business as usual, resource-driven collapse), BAU2 (business as usual, pollution-driven collapse), CT (comprehensive technology), and SW (stabilized world). Based on the latest analysis, humanity is currently on track for somewhere between BAU2 and CT.

Under fixed GFCF share, every country is assumed to follow the global scenario trajectory uniformly, meaning that relative rankings between countries never shift, which is unrealistic. Projections for country-level GFCF values resulting from climate change damages do not presently exist in the public domain. Under dynamic GFCF share, values are proportioned by GDP share based on work from Burke, Hsiang, and Miguel (2015), which is not ideal, but used as an inaccurate proxy. Additionally, many country-year combinations lack real GFCF data due to reporting gaps. Although such models, data, and tools are inherently inaccurate, it helps provide an understanding of potential socio-economic dynamics that may be experienced during the decline of social systems in response to climate change.
